Wilfried Bony tipped to star by FPL Dugout’s readers
Wilfried Bony was the clear winner when we asked you which new striker will have the biggest FPL impact?
380 of you voted and Bony dominated with 161 votes. Swansea’s new powerful striker, who scored 31 goals and made 8 assists for Vitesse last season, has some dreadful opening fixtures but the FPL Dugout readers believe he can come through those fixtures and lead the line with aplomb for Swansea this season.
Bony got off to a flying start in his first competitive game for Swansea against Malmo in the Europa League qualifying last week. The striker netted twice and supplied an assist in the 4-0 rout. The signs look promising then.
West Brom’s Nicolas Anelka came runner up with 72 votes. Perhaps his age and Steve Clarke’s love of rotation held him back from seriously challenging Bony.
Ricky van Wolfswinkel just beat lago Aspas into third, with 55 votes to 48, while Jozy Altidore, Andreas Cornelius and Dwight Gayle brought up the rear, with 23, 15 and 6 votes respectively.
We’ve now opened another new poll. This time we ask: which new mid-price midfielder is the best pick to start the season?
We’ve chosen players with good fixtures and have relatively secure places in their sides.
Could it be one of Everton pair Steven Pienaar and Kevin Mirallas? Both could thrive from their wide roles in the front 3 of Roberto Martinez’s 3-4-3 or 4-3-3.
Kevin Nolan has the perfect platform to get off to another flying start, with Cardiff and Stoke at home in the first 3.
Robert Snodgrass, James Morrison and Newcastle pair Moussa Sissoko and Hatem Ben Arfa come next, while Southampton pair Adam Lallana and Gaston Ramirez could be great starting picks.
Finally, Tottenham’s new signing, Nacer Chadli. His pace and trickery could surprise a few defences early on.
