Star Player and Punt - Gameweek 38 - Yankee Sean v Aaron

Another gameweek, another notch in the belt. I am unstoppable! This week however may be my toughest challenge yet as I face Aaron our league leader, oops sorry 2nd place now. One week to go and you drop out of 1st. Sorry, mate. I sincerely hope you get the points to retake 1st as long as it’s not at the expense of me losing the Star/Punt Player. I’m on a streak that I am determined to carry into next season. I plan to carry this out by using a player from your Villains. Christian Benteke.

Yankee Sean’s Star Player – Christian Benteke

I had intended to go with Eden Hazard this week but after receiving news that he was out this week due to dental surgery, Kevo and Aaron graciously allowed me to change my player. For this final week of the season, I chose Christian Benteke. In fact, after thinking about this choice I wish I had made him my Star player originally instead of immediately jumping on Hazard. Ever since gameweek 28 Benteke has been in incredible form with 11 goals and 2 assists. Burnley for the last several weeks started to find some defensive resolve, only shipping 4 goals in the last 6 games, but that was when they had something to play for. Now that they are relegated this could be a team that has no fight left. Look for a Benteke brace in this one.

Aaron’s Star Player – Sergio Aguero

When picking a Star player, it’s hard to look beyond the Premier League’s top goalscorer, who has a favourable home clash against Southampton. For all their defensive resolve, the Saints only have four clean sheets on the road this season. They have also conceded in their last five games. Aguero always gets lots of chances at home – and with eight goals in his last six – he’s got the form to convert them.

Aaron’s Punt – Dame N’Doye

This is based on one thing – motivation. I wanted a player with everything to play for, so that brought me to the inconsistent Senegalese front man. Every now and again, the 0.4% owned N’Doye puts in a performance to remember, which he demonstrated in Gameweek 34 with a brace at Crystal Palace. I’m banking on something similar against Man United to fire Hull City to Premier League safety.

Yankee Sean’s Punt – Ashley Young

I don’t have a lot to say on this one. This is more a gut pick than anything. Ashley Young has been showing a lot of fight as he might be gone next season. Last game he was really showing a lot as he marauded up and down the left flank dropping crosses across the box almost at will. Had United been more effective at finishing and had got more men in the box, he easily could have had more assists than the one he got against the Gunners. If he continues to put in the same effort against Hull he could walk away with another assist and hopefully a goal.
