Star Player and Punt - Gameweek 34 - Yankee Sean v Luke
Last week Sean won a record 3 on the trot beating David by 4 points, hard on us that followed their punts as both Murray and Vardy failed to deliver, however something tells me this week is going to be high scoring. The man in form, Luke, picks once more for the second time this season, and as usual both have chosen a Star player (free choice) and Punt (under 4% ownership).
Yankee Sean’s Star Player – Raheem Sterling
Double Gameweek, Huzzah! I both am looking forward to this week as well as dreading it. DGW’s are make or break moments for many a fantasy manager over the course of the season. Usually in my case it’s a big fat fail. I never seem to get the right players in over the 2 games to put together a great gameweek. It’s simply agonizing to watch over the span of those 2 games your team not live up to the grand expectations you placed on them. So once again I go into this week with trepidation. Will my team perform and find glory or will it come up short as it has so many times before?
I’ve had a good run in this competition. I’m proud of being the champ 3 gameweeks running so far but this might be the perfect week for Luke to take a shot at the top spot. Unfortunately for Luke I’m not one to give up so easily and I’ll take this gameweek challenge on just as I have the others. So my first shot across the bow is Raheem Sterling.
I really wanted to pick Eden Hazard here and I’ll probably come to regret it but I just like the matchups for Liverpool better. Both players are on the road this week but Chelsea face an in form team in Arsenal and Leicester while Liverpool have West Brom and Hull. I like Sterling’s odds of getting on the board, especially since he’ll probably be playing up front again with Sturridge once again sidelined with an injury. Hazard also tends to struggle away from the Bridge and Chelsea have struggled recently even though they’ve been winning, so that helped sway my decision toward the Red.
Luke’s Star Player – Eden Hazard
I’ve gone for probably the safest bet in the whole of Fantasy Premier League – it’s 45.4% owned Eden Hazard. Even if there are no fit Chelsea forwards it shouldn’t stop this Belgian tearing Gunners and Leicester to shreds come this gameweek. [LOL I like what you did there, Ed)
Eden Hazard, who has got 4 goals in his last 6 matches, is in top form. In his last 6 matches he has got 8.5 points per game so the Chelsea wing wizard is certainly a safe option going into the double gameweek. Hazard will be playing against a Leicester side who have kept just 2 clean sheets in the last 10 games. Even if Hazard has an off day there is always the chance of Chelsea getting a penalty.
Luke’s Punt – Esteban Cambiasso
For this week’s punt I have chosen Esteban Cambiasso, who has scored once and got 2 assists in his last 3 matches. Cambiasso has scored 4 bonus points in his last 6 matches and averaged 4.8 points per game over that period. If Leicester are going to beat Burnley then you would think that Cambiasso will have to be in the points one way or another!
Yankee Sean’s Punt – James Vardy
Yep, I’m sticking with him even though he didn’t score or assist last week. I watched the game and even though he didn’t get a return I felt he still played well and was just unlucky not to score. He works hard and gets a lot of shots in the opposition’s box. Leicester’s been very attacking in recent weeks and I don’t expect that to change with relegation looming. If anything I think they will continue to throw caution to the wind and go all in.
