Star Player and Punt - Gameweek 33 - Yankee Sean v David
After a few weeks break we’re back. Two amazing things happened last weekend – firstly Luke followed up GW32’s 107 point haul with another impressive score of 82, he duly celebrated by this week taking a 12 point hit! However, more astonishing than this has to be Marco beating Kevo in H2H for the first time since GW20 when Spurs beat Chelsea 5-3 on New Years Day, ahh……banter.
So this week sees a new challenger in another Aussie, David, facing champion Yankee Sean, both have chosen a Star player (free choice) and Punt (under 4% ownership). Here’s an introduction written by David.
Hi Peoples, my name is David (David C) and I’m from Adelaide, Australia. I’m 42 years of age and am a Liverpool supporter, this is due to my mother’s family coming from Liverpool and there thankfully being considerably more Reds supporters in the room than there were blues at a family gathering when I was young.
Living in Australia, I imagine I don’t quite have my finger on the pulse to the same extent as most of you as far as the Premier League is concerned, this is due to the games being on in the early hours of the morning and as such I will more than often only watch the Liverpool games assuming I don’t sleep through the alarm.
I have been playing fantasy football now since the 06/07 season with my best result being 19k in the 12/13 season. I am currently sitting around the 35k mark and am hoping to finish in the top 20k but time will tell.
Yankee Sean’s Star Player – Sergio Aguero
Woe to the team that faces City after their humiliating loss to rivals United. City will bounce back from their derby loss by trouncing West Ham. Even though it may seem that City has nothing to play for since they are out of the title race they do have to worry about Liverpool and Southampton stealing that 4th Champions League spot out from under them.
Pellegrini will get this team focused on that and poor West Ham are standing in the way. Aguero after a loss in form over the past several weeks banged in 2 at Old Trafford and might be getting his scoring touch back again. He’ll have to since both Bony and Jovetic have been down with injuries and Dzeko hasn’t been very scintillating this season. West Ham have been horrible defensively particularly from inside the 6 yard box allowing a whopping 107 attempts since Gameweek 23. This is the area where Aguero shines. I look for him to score a brace and be involved in other scoring opportunities as this has the potential to be a rout.
David’s Star Player – David Silva
I have chosen David Silva as my star player, with 11 goals and 7 assists, he is more than capable of scoring some decent points. I’m assuming, given their recent form that Manchester City will come out firing and make an example of West Ham in an attempt to secure a top 4 spot and if so, hopefully Silva plays a big part in this. However, being a Liverpool supporter, I’m more than happy should they fail and West Ham get the better of them.
David’s Punt – Glenn Murray
I can’t say I know too much about this player and to be honest until recently I didn’t even know he existed. However given the 6 goals and 4 assists he has scored in his last 6 matches, and playing at home to West Brom who have conceded 10 in their last 3, this was hard to ignore and as such is my punt.
Yankee Sean’s Punt – James Vardy
I was almost tempted to go with in form midfielder Yannick Bolasie here but once I found out my opponent went with Glenn Murray I decided to go with a more interesting choice – James Vardy. Why? 2 goals and 2 assists in his last 3. He seems to be finding some form and at the right time for Leicester. The team has everything to play for facing relegation and a favorable run of fixtures that could see them keep their place with a bit of luck and determination. They are up against Swansea who will be without left back Neil Taylor and also have a question mark as to who will play up front in the forward role. Leicester will come out guns blazing once again with nothing to lose. Vardy gets at least an assist and maybe a lucky goal.
