Star Player and Punt - Gameweek 16 – Tom v Villa Simon
Last week Tom finally ended Ant’s run, so next up is an FPL Dugout legend by the name of Villa Simon. Both have chosen a Star player (free choice) and Punt (under 4% ownership). I know he doesn’t need any introductions….but here’s one anyway!
My name is Simon Mitchell, known on here as Villa Simon. I have been playing fantasy football for 9 seasons, but stumbled across FPL Dugout a few seasons ago. It has made the game so much more enjoyable to play especially with the added “extras”. The Champions League is great despite my lack of success but I did win the League Cup 2 seasons ago, won last year’s FPL Dugout chatters H2H league and also won the prediction league for the last 2 years (this year is one to forget though in the latter).
Also just quickly, married 7 years with 2 girls, 13 and 6, grew up in Birmingham hence the Villa connection and now live and work in sunny Weymouth in the south of England. I’m a retail manager.
Tom’s Star Player – Diego Costa
So…. Diego Costa…. Not the most original choice I know but it’s hard to get away from the second best striker in the country with the best team behind him against a team that’s only kept 3 clean sheets all season. And they were against QPR, West Brom and Liverpool, not the greatest assembly of attacking threat!
Chelsea just keep rolling on with any amount of talent available to cover injury, so the loss of Fabregas, Costa’s chief supplier, is no great shakes in my eyes. I can see a cricket score if Chelsea get an early goal. I just hope they don’t shut up shop like they’ve done a few times after getting a comfortable lead.
Bottom line is if they do score, Costa is the likely beneficiary.
Villa Simon’s Star Player – Eden Hazard
My Star Player is Eden Hazard. Chelsea host an out of form Hull side who won’t be looking forward to a trip to the Bridge. Hazard is a bit of a home boy. All 5 of his league goals have come at home and has scored in his last 4 homes games. In those 4 games he has picked up 10 bonus points as well. I think he can continue this run against the Tigers and bag some good points.
Villa Simon’s Punt – Christian Benteke
My Punt is Christian Benteke. At time of writing, less than 1.5% of managers own this fella.
Since returning from suspension, unbelievable Bentekkers has scored and assisted in the 2 games while also returning to full fitness after a lengthy injury lay off that kept him out the World Cup. That injury may have also put paid to a move to one of the top Premier League or European teams.
Villa`s trip to the Hawthorns comes as our form seems to have picked up. Unbeaten in 5! This fixture has also produced 15 goals in the last 3 games alone and I think Bentekkers will help himself this weekend to some tasty points and cause the Baggies defence some problems.
Tom’s Punt – Kevin Mirallas
My punt is exactly that in my mind as you just don’t know what you’re gonna get – Kevin Mirallas.
Once again, I’m fixture more than player led here as QPR do nothing for me in defence.
Everton are solid this year and rested all their major players in Europe midweek. Mirallas is explosive and can score spectacular goals cutting in from the wings.
He looks confident, sometimes too confident I grant you, but I like that; especially in a punt. He was a top mid-priced player last year and there’s no reason he can’t start his ascent to that form against ‘Arry’s boys.
