Star Player and Punt - Gameweek 12 - Ant v Scott
Last Gameweek Ant made it two on the trot, seeing Bivash go the same way as Kevo. Gameweek 12 sees a new challenger in Scott. Both have chosen a Star player (free choice) and Punt (under 4% ownership), with the winner taking on the next challenger in Gameweek 13.
Scott AKA ‘Bibster’ hails from the beautiful city of Liverpool. He has been an FPL Dugout regular for a few years now and is a massive Liverpool fan. Scott says he enjoys a bit of good banter and the mixture of support for different clubs which adds to the chat on match day.
Ant’s Star Player – Diego Costa
My pick this week is Diego Costa, as like last week’s pick, it isn’t hard to see why the Chelsea forward springs to mind. His goal tally for the season so far is 10 goals in 9 appearances.
As usual a quick look at the form guide sees Chelsea unbeaten at home and with 13 goals at the Bridge, I expect the majority of people will consider Diego Costa as an easy captain choice this gameweek.
Scott’s Star Player – Alexis Sanchez
My star pick for this week is Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez. He started the season relatively quiet with just 2 goals in his first 7 games, but in the last 4 gameweeks the former Barcelona man has exploded onto the scene scoring 6 goals. Add 3 bonus points and an assist into the mix and you have a player who is slowly starting to become a must have in your team.
An expensive player but one who’s value is only going to rise, especially considering Arsenal have players coming back to fitness and a decent run of fixtures ahead which should see a turn in form for the Gunners.
This week Alexis is facing Manchester United’s well let’s say……leaky defence; although a few of you (Mesh, Shiva, Michael) may think I’m a bit biased with this pick but I think the little Chilean is going to profit from yet more slack United defending, particularly given the injuries the opposition have at the back.
Scott’s Punt – Ayoze Perez
Now at the time of me writing, if you’d have said to me just one month ago on 18th October that I’d choose Ayoze Perez, my reply would have been Ayoze who? However since this date he has scored 3 in his last 3 appearances for Newcastle United as the Toon Army have soared up the Premier League table.
After an awful start to the season Newcastle’s turn of form has been down to Perez’s recent run and flurry of goals. He netted against Spurs, Liverpool and West Brom whilst also claiming 6 bonus points along the way. With a home game against QPR this week followed by games against West Ham and Burnley, I can see his good form continuing, and with a current ownership of just 1.4% he is Bibster’s punt for the week.
Ant’s Punt – Charlie Austin
My punt for Gameweek 12 is QPR forward Charlie Austin. He is showing some good form with 4 goals in his last 3 games, including a brace against Manchester City, which shows it doesn’t really matter who he’s up against.
If he´s feeling confident and with a game against Newcastle this weekend, I think he may carry on his goal scoring streak. He is only picked by 2.9% of players so far, making him a definite contender for this week’s punt.
