Campbell scores on QPR debut but trouble lies in wait

DJ Campbell took just 29 seconds to score his first goal for QPR today in their 3-1 friendly defeat to Luton.

Adel Taarabt, who also started the game, picked out Campbell with a precise pass and the former Blackpool player converted the chance.

Campbell, who is yet to be added to the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, scored 13 goals for Blackpool last season and proved an excellent bargain striker.

But DJ’s appeal may not be quite the same this season.

Campbell started with fellow new striker, Jay Bothroyd, but QPR boss Neil Warnock, who rigidly sticks to a 4-2-3-1 system, chose to play battering ram Bothroyd as his lone front man, with Campbell playing in the 3 behind him in a wide right attacking midfield role.

So early signs would suggest Campbell could be out of position, but in a bad way.

Campbell is expected to be priced at around £6 – 6.5m this season.
