Gameweek 2 Preview - No Siggy? No Problem!

Every Gameweek one of the FPL Dugout team will take it in turns to look forward to the upcoming Gameweek, and this week you get me, Sleno, AKA Games Master here at FPL Dugout!

So a little plug: if you haven’t signed up for the FPL Dugout League Cup yet, you can do so by signing up here.

Gameweek 1 has just finished, but Gameweek 2 is just days away and there is so much to talk about I think we best get to it!

It was just a normal Saturday wasn’t it to start us off? No Siggy, no Allen, no problem for Swansea who thumped 5 past the QPR, who by all reports didn’t play that badly! Not to be out done, Fulham with no Dempsey said… no problem! As they smashed 5 past my relegation tip Norwich.

Now Siggy and Allen have gone to “so called bigger clubs” but didn’t have the best of days. Siggy lasted 67 mins before getting hauled off as Spurs lost to the ever impressive Newcastle and Allen had to endure the whole 90 mins as Liverpool went down 3-0 to West Brom. And people sure do lose faith quickly with over 40,000 people already shipping out Allen.

Saturday was sure fun but it was just a taste of what was to come! Man City almost lost, Man Utd did lose and Chelsea are the most confusing team in the world right now as they tried to lose to Reading, but ended up winning easily … well the scoreline said so anyways!

Now with last week still in the forefront of our minds, we have to look ahead, because Gameweek 2 is almost upon us!

RVP is my first port of call. If I was a gambling man I would say that he is going to start this weekend after Man Utd’s dismal opening day effort, and well that sure is a tempting thought! Rooney and RVP up front at home to Fulham is mouthwatering!

Just is the thought of Swansea at home to West Ham, who may well have kept a clean sheet against a very poor Aston Villa in Gameweek 1 but I’m not sure they will be able to repeat the trick against a rampant Swansea.

Nathan Dyer has come out and said he is being asked to play more in the middle and will score more as a result, which I guess he proved with his brace last week. But take your pick from Dyer, the Michu machine or Danny Graham for who might break West Ham’s hearts!

After both being smashed last week Norwich and QPR will try and re mount the horse, but to be honest there is no appeal in either team right now! They are going to have to show us they aren’t relegation certs before investment is even considered.

Spurs have just re signed Emmanuel Adebayor, and with West Brom at home he is sure tempting, but with no pre-season and Jermain Defoe scoring last week it won’t be a surprise if he starts this one on the bench.

How a week changes things eh – remember this from Aaron last week “Go on Andre, give us something! Michael Dawson at 5.0 could be a bargain in waiting or dead wood in our squads.”

Well I think we are all confused! William Gallas appeared on the Official Spurs website under an article about players that were allowed to leave, but then played, and now Dawson is being courted by QPR and others! So I think Andre hasn’t helped us out much so far!

Sunderland and Southampton have very good looking home games against Reading and Wigan and if you’re looking for a cheap defender either could be a great option.

After scoring 6 goals this week who would bet against Chelsea getting a few more against Newcastle? But with a blank in Gameweek 3, now might not be the best time to jump on the Hazard train!

There sure is a lot to think about and here are just a few predictions for the week ahead!

Clean sheets for: Man Utd, Southampton and Spurs!

Lots of goals for: Man Utd, Swansea, and Chelsea!

Lots of heartache for: Norwich, Liverpool and Bristol Rovers!
