FPL Dugout team interview - which player is first on your team sheet?

I posed five questions to Sleno, Mesh, Shiva and Marco, to get their views on some early Fantasy Premier League (FPL) 2012/13 talking points.

We start by discussing which player will be first on our team sheets.

Look out in the coming days for our thoughts on possible bargains and overpriced players, and who we think will win the league and get relegated.

Which player is first on your team sheet, and why?

Sleno says Sergio Aguero

With Southampton and QPR both at home in the first 3 gameweeks, a Man City striker has to be in your team. He is worth paying more to be certain of a start than gambling on Tevez or Balotelli.

Mesh says Wayne Rooney

Tough call but I’d say Wayne Rooney because he had a great scoring season last year and I fancy him to carry on that scoring form this season.

Shiva says Wayne Rooney

He always starts the season with a bang. United are wounded so will be rampant. Decent fixtures. Automatic captain choice.

Marco says Eden Hazard

I’ll start with a name that will be familiar to you Twitter users unless you’ve lived under a rock for the past few months. Eden Hazard was the first name on my team sheet, helped by the double gameweek of course! Hazard took the prize just ahead of Gareth Bale and Man United keeper David de Gea.

Aaron says Gareth Bale

Tottenham face home games against West Brom, Norwich and QPR in their first 5 gameweeks. Add in a trip to Reading and Tottenham attacking coverage looks crucial to me, so who more reliable and consistent than Gareth Bale? Van der Vaart and Sigurdsson come in 0.5m cheaper, but there are always question marks over Van der Vaart’s fitness, and Sigurdsson’s role in the side.
