Fantasy Premier League 11/12 – What’s going on?
We are just over the halfway mark of another season. No doubt everyone has tales of glory or despair. Did you capitalise on Van Persie when he got hot in November? Did you blow your wildcard in the first 5 weeks and wish you hadn’t?
There are many things for us to reflect on but I would like to look at the core game and two specific areas that need attention from the administrators.
Please use the normal channels to challenge / debate and let us know what you think. If you have alternative arguments or solutions to me then I would love to hear them!
Scotty B’s player picks – Gameweek 9
After being slated in Gameweek 8 for my player picks I am back again for some more in Gameweek 9.
Although maybe they were not great it got people thinking and talking and a little heated too!
I’ll take a little credit though for everybody’s sudden interest in Van Der Vaart and also Ramires was a decent pick with 8 points so if you took my advice on those two you have me to thank for 18 points.
Anyway here are this weeks picks, just one player for each position after all the grief of last week, enjoy!
Manchester derby poses captaincy issues
Robin van Persie’s brace today was not good news for those without the Dutchman, and they now face further problems next week.
The clash between Man United and Man City will throw our usual captaincy favourites into a cauldron of toughness.
The likes of Rooney, Nani, Silva and Aguero will face off in a challenging game.
Choosing Captains
Invariably, the league positions in every league are decided by the choices of captains by all the FPL managers.
I am not saying because I am writing an article on “choosing captains”, I really think so.
Yes, your whole composition of the team does matter a lot, but if you select your captain wisely, and get some luck, you would most probably score more than average points per week which will in turn guarantee you a good position after 38 weeks.
Scotty B’s player picks – Gameweek 8
After the very boring international break that nobody likes it is back to the nitty gritty of the Premier League for Gameweek 8.
I’m sure not everybody would agree with me but here are a couple of players for each position I believe will be good picks for the week ahead.
Arsenal and Man City head list of Gameweek 6 questions
Another Gameweek comes to a close and we begin our preparations for Gameweek 6.
Arsenal and Man City will feature heavily in those preparations as both face enticing home fixtures against Bolton and Everton.
Arsenal can’t be ignored, despite their recent form. A home game with Bolton is a very nice fixture.
Chelsea and Torres the perfect analogy for early fantasy season
Man United 3-1 Chelsea. What a fantastically enjoyable game.
People will drool over Man United’s form, their goals, revel in another victory, and ridicule Fernando Torres for a horrific second half miss. Same old Torres.
Those who think a bit more deeply beyond the bare face events will see things differently, and this sums up the early fantasy season, where casual decisions with little thought are being rewarded.
Gameweek 5 preview – surely Rooney can’t do it again?
Firstly, sorry for the recent lack of new articles. A disappointing start to my fantasy season has left me cursing my luck, while I’ve been distracted with other things too.
Fear not, I’m now raring to go with renewed optimism ahead of what could be an interesting Gameweek. Here’s my thoughts on the upcoming weekend.
Let’s start with the heavyweight clashes. Chelsea travel to Old Trafford and face a Man United side that have scored 18 goals in their first 4 matches.
Can they stop Rooney and co? It seems unlikely, despite having Cech and Luiz back from injury.
Rooney intrigues me here. Fantasy managers, particularly the ones at the top of their leagues, have captained Rooney every week, so I’m interested to see their next move. There aren’t too many obvious captain choices.
