Problems logging into Fantasy Premier League 2011/12

I’ve seen lots of comments around the FPL community tonight of people being unable to log in to the game, and experienced this first hand last night when my sister couldn’t log in.

The FPL servers are being hit hard and the amount of people logging in at once has been mooted as the cause of the problem. It’s been taking people up to 40 minutes to log in.

There’s 2 suggestions which have helped people:

1) Clear your browser cookies, restart your browser, and try logging in again.

2) Try clicking on the ‘My Team’ link even if it says failed log in. People have been logged in when it says they haven’t been able to get in.

I guess we just need to be patient. If you can wait an hour or so, then do. It should be running like clockwork later tonight.

Hope this helps. And I wouldn’t log out once you’re in.

Pre-season report – form players, first XI’s, tactics, injuries and more

Pre-season has come and gone in the blink of an eye and the start of the Premier League is almost upon us.

When we come to build our initial squads, pre-season is one of many different factors we use to make our decisions.

It should be taken with a pinch of salt sometimes, but it’s definitely worth keeping an eye on who has made the best transition from the beach to the pitch in the friendlies.

We can also begin to see how managers are going to shape their squads this year, the systems they may use, and who’ll be first choice.

I’ve spent time looking over all the clubs in pre-season and am delivering all you need to know here.

It’s a long old read so why not put the kettle on and get stuck in – or save for lunchtime reading.

I hope you find some of the snippets useful, whether they reaffirm your team decisions, or force a rethink for the good of your team.

And please do add your comments if I have missed anything!

Use your fantasy skills to win a cash prize

Fancy winning some money? FPL Dugout has endorsed a league ran by fantasy.wehub.co.uk where you pay a £5 entry fee for a chance to win a big cash prize.

Wayne Ellison, who runs the league, said:

“For the coming season I have set up a website which gives people I know a chance to win a cash prize at the end of the season… I have suggested that those who want to be involved pay a £5 entry, with the entry deadline at the end of August. All entry money will go towards the prize (with a very very small fee put towards hosting the website). I have not decided on how the prize money will be split just yet (winner takes all, 1st-5th etc.) but will make that decision after the entry closing date.”

So why not head over to fantasy.wehub.co.uk, put in a fiver, and you could be celebrating a tidy profit come May!

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) 2011/12 has launched

The wait is over! And I’m relieved. We can now discuss real matters.

Yes, Fantasy Premier League is back with a brand new look, updated player prices, and some rule tweaks.

The player prices have thrown up a few surprises… Andy Carroll is valued at £10m, whereas Suarez is £9.5m, and Javier Hernandez has seen a big rise to £10m.

Gerrard stays a steep £11m, Van der Vaart comes in at £10m, Ashley Young £10m, Charlie Adam £9m, Yaya Toure £8m, N’Zogbia £7.5m, and Seamus Coleman is now a £7m midfielder. Hmm.

The most expensive players are Lampard, Fabregas, Rooney, Tevez and Robin van Persie at £12m.

The likes of Martin Kelly (£5.5m), Kieran Gibbs (£5.5m) and Marc Albrighton (£6.5m) have all had price hikes, but could still offer pretty good value if they become regulars.

On to the rule tweaks…

Imminent Fantasy Premier League 2011/12 boasts significant improvements

Fantasy Football Scout have this afternoon revealed that Fantasy Premier League is to launch any day now with significant improvements and remains free to play.

Here’s the key details from today’s statement:

“The Premier League have confirmed to us this afternoon that their Fantasy game is in the final stages of testing for the new season but will not be going live today.

The game and site have been enhanced and, while things are almost complete, there are still some minor browser issues that need to be ironed out before the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) site can launch.

We can take this opportunity to dispel a number of rumours that have cropped up in recent days and confirm that all is well with the FPL and that the game will be free to play. There are also a number of significant improvements that we feel will be greeted with a very positive response from players…”

Intriguing and exciting stuff! I think it’s likely we’ll see a change to the emergency captain rule, which has been so controversial since it was introduced two seasons ago.

Fantasy Premier League 2011/12 set to launch mid July

I have been in touch with Fantasy Premier League about the launch date, and this was their response:

“The new Fantasy League is due to commence around the middle of July.”

Perhaps that’s stating the obvious, but it’s confirmation that we’ll at least have a game, it won’t be launched today, but we can expect it to launch either later this week, or perhaps Monday next week.

I wonder if we’ll get an announcement later this week and launch next week. It would not be best practice to launch such a big website then leave it over the weekend, in case of any issues etc.

So the wait goes on…

Fantasy Premier League 2011/12 launch date update

Today was anticipated as the big launch day for Fantasy Premier League.

While it could still happen today, I have news from Mark, who runs Fantasy Football Scout, that suggests we may have to wait a little big longer.

“We’re in a difficult spot – we’re waiting on the green light – until we get that, we can’t say anything on the launch date or the details around it. It will be clear on just why we’re being strict on the information very soon.”

An intriguing statement. Perhaps this delay means we can expect some wholesale changes to the game this season.

When confirmation of launch does arrive, I will post it up as soon as I can.

In the meantime, do cast your vote (if you haven’t already) on which big striker will be first on your teamsheet this season.

Robin van Persie is currently in the lead, despite Arsenal’s tricky opening 3 games (new, LIV, mun). But I guess his form last season was pretty amazing!
